Grand Opening
February 24th, 2009

Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,

After almost two years of hard work, world travel and intensive preparation we are proud to announce the long anticipated opening of Artisan Emporia, the new web destination for one-of-a-kind fair trade crafts.  Artisan Emporia offers a wide selection of hand made artisan crafts from around the world including handbags, jewelry, scarves & accessories, coffees & teas, home décor and luxurious spa products.  Through our ‘Featured Pages’ section we’re proud to share with you information about all of our artisans and the countries where they live and work.  You’ll also find videos on ‘Artisan TV,’ which we’ve created while on our journeys  to find you the highest quality artisan crafts available.

We’ll be adding new products in the coming weeks and months ahead as we continue to explore the world to find new artisans and crafts.  We hope you’ll join us online to learn about our artisans and browse their handmade creations.  Remember, everything Artisan Emporia offers is Fair Trade, so your purchase makes a direct difference in the lives of the artisan.

Thank you again for your support.  We hope to see you soon,

San Lucas Toliman Project
December 9th, 2008

Here’s a quick video of the work I participated in as part of my final graduate project in Guatemala. We worked for a month with a group of mayan women weavers in San Lucas on the shores of Lake Atitlan. Besides the store makeover captured in the cool video created by the super artist Cynthia Lawson, we conducted weeks of workshops focused on business development, marketing, micro-credit, and of course, design. Anyways you can read and see all about it here. When I say we, I mean the gaggle of New School and Parsons students who crammed into a quaint blue house for four weeks. Anyways you can read and see all about it here.
